"All the women who are independent
Throw your hands up at me
All the honeys who makin' money
Throw your hands up at me
All the mommas who profit dollas
Throw your hands up at me
All the ladies who truly feel me
Throw your hands up at me"

She said "I'm not gonna buy these you know," and I said "I know, but let's take a few of just you anyway." She thought I was being silly and, truthfully, I was burning a little time while her boys ran around and got the wiggles out so I could talk them into another round of standing *sort of* still for me. But here's the other thing (and it's important): Moms, you need to be in pictures, too. Not just with the kids. Not just with your spouse. But all alone, standing tall like the strong independent women you are.
We've all seen posts on Facebook about getting in the pictures on vacation and how important is to be part of the memories not just the keeper and capturer (I'm pretty sure I made that word up, go with it) of them. And as a boudoir photographer, I feel it's important to express your sexy side for yourself and your spouse (but mostly for YOURSELF). But it's also important to see yourself without the kids, without the spouse. (And you single mom warriors, this is especially important for YOU!) It's important to really SEE yourself. Are you hearing me? SEE YOURSELF.
Remember what it's like to go potty alone? To grab your purse and "run in" somewhere? To not schedule your weekends around birthday parties and soccer? To buy clothes and not have to consider how it will stand up to food or spit up or boogers? To not worry all day about where the kids are and what they are doing and what heartbreaks they are experiencing and whether or not they took a warm enough jacket? Yeah, me either.
That's why I took "just a few of you alone." You don't have to pick them. I just hope that when you are scrolling through your gallery marveling at the beautiful children you've made, you stop and take a good look at yourself and see how awesome you are!
